Variant Divergent
That Which Sustains
Variant Divergent, is a book of poetry in short form as well as, longer stories which will make you think, feel and question the world in which we live. In reading these works of fiction, you will recapture the most fleeting of things; hope. These poems cover a wide spectrum of topics: romance, love and all its angst, the human condition, politics, hard science, science fiction, the socio-political and economic discourse. A fresh book of poetry for the individual who likes to go on a journey of insight. This book of poetry is for those seeking meaning and understanding of who we are as individuals and as a species. This is done with poems which speak to and on, the human condition, by looking at how we are all interconnected in wanting more than what is. Variant and Divergent is just this, works of fiction both Variant as they are Divergent.
That Which Sustains, is a unique heroic prose that tells a universe and time spanning story of loss, suffering and the power of love to be hope in a guise not seen till heeded and accepted. This novel has characters and a story line which explores grand themes such as why we are here, is there something greater than us, do we have agency, or are Destiny and Fate truth, with free will being an illusion formed from misperception and limited understanding.
The chief protagonist of the story is named Pottisimus; someone who for a great deal of the story does not know his true nature. At the start of the novel, readers meet an individual who has great difficulty differentiating his dream world from reality; with moments of lucidity mixed in with instants of sheer confusion and resignation to his delirious mental state. As the story progresses, the reader accompanies the protagonist on his journey of self-discovery. One in which he travels across oceans, through foreign lands, to unique worlds then into the vastness of space/time, spatial dimensions and multiple planes of reality.
There is exploration of the role Free Will, Agency, Fate and Destiny, play in our everyday actions. Gods and beings of power are introduced and weaved into the story as actors in the conflict between the protagonist and those who would stop his rise. Within the story arc, there are several plot lines which interweave hard science perceived facts such as Quantum and String Theory, with speculative scientific ideas such as Quantum Perception. These hard and speculative areas of science, help to advance the narrative of a protagonists who is in conflict internally and with external forces he believes to be beyond his control. The protagonist is joined in his struggles against his “Fate,” by a Great Dragon named Hibti. Their relationship is central to not just the protagonist personal development, but also to the many themes within the story and how in the end, it is she who saves him from himself.
As the story progresses we learn there are three primordial forces: Order, Chaos and Entropy. Entropy, we learn is the chief antagonist. Entropy, becomes an allegory and a metaphor for the conflict between gods and other forms of life and at a larger scale, life’s perpetual instinctive need to not be defined by Fate and Destiny.
That Which Sustains, is a story of perseverance as the main character learns the choices he makes to exercise his agency and free will, never was a sacrifice. That the fear which existed within him was always the illusion and the prison he was in, not one made by Fate or Destiny.

Memories Remains
I have been sitting here remembering you. In my mind, tasting your lips as your essence enveloped me in our joining. Your heat, your seductive smile and the completeness of our union. I have lived in this and so many other memories each and every day. My nights come too soon and I remember. I feel your presence; know you are here with me then the dawn seeps through my window, and, you are gone. Where summer was of your spring, these changing seasons are all of winter’s reign shadowing new rejoices, eclipsing passion leaving only yearning. There is naught but vacuity in my musings for the rising of the sun is no comfort, its luminosity seems dim to what you are, were to me. Still, memories are the home which I have been a recluse within, outside is not of my desire, nor domicile. There, there is only bareness.
I want to be engulfed and burn within your flames, memories as embers do not suffice. I remember, your laughter and the music of your existence singing, thrumming, beating as my heart. Each day was the arid parching desert wind wetted by your kiss, your arms enclosing, nourishing not taking, only giving to me in each days beginning and passing. Fear has visited me often accompanied by despair led by despondency for memories open the door of my solitude. Possibility, has been a sword severing hope as loneliness has slain contentment in loves banishment. And yet, I remember. In this remembering, you are here existence shared, celestial beings created by our love making; fulfilling, soul affirming.
So many years have I seen, each second eternity in your absence which I can no longer endure. I thought I was stronger, you asked me to be stronger. But I cannot abide such a binding. A coldness creeps into my being in your nonexistence upon this plane, a tide which I can no longer hold at bay. With your leaving, I am withering, consuming of winnowing each day in living. Lately, a new note resonates to become the after’s calling and alluring current. My love, my love, I remember for this I am coming. Forgive my weakness, accept my telling of enduring unwanted, unrelenting ghouls screaming and of me fearing being deafened to a chorus we once sung. I am yielding, acknowledging the silence. The corporality of my mortal form I no longer accept, I want to go to your ether, touch you once more as I sail to that distant shore. Of my flesh, a deep fissure opens as a river springs forth to water and carry me to you. I remember and for this I am coming, coming home to you.
